NASCAR and the Most Boring Sport in the World...EVER

So the Nascar season just ended recently and one of my favorite Drivers Jimmie Johnson won. It was a pretty exciting race; I must say. But I am sure there are people out there that would disagree with me entirely, they would go as far to say that Nascar is probably the most boring sport in the World. IN FACT one man went as far to say that the Drivers...are not even athletes
We will not mention any names, but we can casually say this guy right here
He Basically said that he recognizes Golfers as athletes but not Nascar Drivers as Athletes and pretty much that Nascar is not a real sport....I just pray he has no plans on visiting the south anytime soon...there might just be one are two people that would be offended by such a statement.   But lets look at this argument here. what is it that defines a sport or  an athlete?
well...let us pull out good ol' Webster and ask him

1.Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

2. Athlete:a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise

So by definition one can have a reasonable argument here either way. You can argue that there is little to no physical exertion taking place while racing, but then again people who make this argument haven't actually raced for hours on end, so they cannot for certain say that it is not physically exerting. The second part of the definition of Sport is skill. and to answer this question I want you to get in your car and put the petal to the metal*** and race your little vehicle around and see how easy it is to control a vehicle at high velocity..so yes it does take skill. So actually Nascar is a sport, which means that the Drivers are indeed athletes. so Donovan MacNabb--shoot I was not going to mention his name-- is wrong. it is a sport and they are Athletes.

*** do not actually do this, it is highly dangerous and runs a risk of fatality of yourself and or other people. I am not liable for the stupid choices you make. Drive responsibly and like a civilized human being. however if you choose to try this do so on legal terms, go to a racetrack or abandoned runway(with permission) and try to control your vehicle. but it is just better for you not to do this..so just do not.

Bu this Post does not just end here there is another argument to the Naysayers/ haters of Nascar and this is brought to us by a comedian Jeff Dunham and his Puppet Bubba J
"look their making a left turn."
This is the argument they all Nascar is, is a bunch a people driving around in circles...nothing else, just circle after circle....after circle. Now...while I could argue that this argument is invalid because there is not a single complete "true" circle track. There are ovals, Rectangle-ish shapes and triangle-ish shapes and even a couple tracks that require more than just "another left turn". But I know that is not their argument. their Argument is that Nascar is just a bunch of cars/trucks making a continuous loop of whatever  two hundred or more so times. and they find it INCREDIBLY boring. which is understandable if you look at it like that. but I can also find it understand able that it is actually an exciting sport to watch...but before I do that, I want to point out why every other Major sport is boring. emphases on major..I will not go over every sport, just the majorly recognized ones. First up American Football.
American Football
so let me throw some images out here to to try and gain an understanding of this so called sport..I mean if you can call it that.
so this is the field  they play on..looks okay...

and this is the ball they play with.....
and their players are supposed to look something like this..i guess?
so the goal here is that you have two teams pitted up against each other, they fight over a ball, and try and get it to their "End zones" to score a touch down. or if they are close enough to kick it ( which is the only time really that their foot comes in contact with the ball...can i call that a ball..I mean scroll back up and look at that..its not even ball shape...but anyways I will humour them..aside from the occasional time they kick it to the other team to start another round but really...95% of the game..has no involvement  with the foot touching that..torpedo balloonish..ball...thing. I have watched a game or too myself..i might I am afraid to say might just have a favorite team... but its really just a boring  game where the teams do nothing but go back and forth...sometimes very slowly...and this is supposed to be exciting? people actually pay to see this stuff....their loss...

REAL Football..
or otherwise known as Soccer..to those who still wish to call themselves American
so I find it fitting that I should do this sport next. so lets take at some images here
 This is their field
Apparently more complicated than it looks....
This is their Ball

did you notice its actually ball shaped?.....just checking...
And here is what one of their players
heh heh heh...right in the face
Oops... I mean this
 please note the acting...
So I would probably put this only slightly above American Football, but that is only due to two things. First Foot and ball: they actually play with their feet. Second: the acting skills required to play this sport are Hollywood quality. but outside that, there's not a lot to this sport, just a lot of back and forth for hours on end, i leave a game and my head is still bobbing back and forth.  You also need to be really careful at these games. Those Europeans take Socc--I mean Football WAY to seriously
blood will be spilled if their team loses. Its not a promise its a guarantee...just ask this guy who Got stabbed over a game

  Baseball
that good old American Pastime
So then there is Baseball...which makes sense....I guess?  Base...Ball..I am going to venture a guess that its a giant rectangle fields that has two "Bases" and they somehow have to get the Ball to their individual bases ti score a point...wait I just described a different sport....
But Seriously this game  was actually the first sport I thought of  when I was thinking about this Blog, because it has something in common with Nascar.....
"he's taking another left turn"
while they share that they are still  different on so many different Levels. Lets a take a look at their stuff
 Here is their Field
Guys...this is the one Diamond a girl does not want for her birthday
 Here is their Ball
get hit in the head with one of these things and...what were e talking about?
And their Players...
heh..heh..that's not how you swing silly
So the average Baseball game is three hours, at first I was wow, but then i realized that out of the three hour game time..there is only 18 minutes of action...holy cow and I thought Nascar was boring...you mean people actually pay to go to these events? Like the other sports on this blog post I have actually been to one of these games...and it is definitely true..not a whole lot going on.
Basketball
This is the last sport I will go over, I know there are many others, but I do not have the time to go over EVERY single sport., just the more common ones.
This is the COURT they play on
field was taken apparently
This is their ball
once again, thank you for making it actually a ball
And here is their Player
to help you out, the guy on the right is probably six feet tall
I am not for sure how much more there is that I can say new here..When it comes to basketball you have a bunch a grown men fighting over a ball and the goal is to get it through a hoop, but you just cannot get it through the hope normally you need to do it with style, so your opponents know how terrible they are. its a bunch of back and forth, and your actually very much limited to where you can be on the field..I mean court, which is the same problem soccer players have, which really does not help make the sport any fun. I actually do not think I have ever stayed an entire game..my friends and I always got to the Half time and were in agreement that this was all too boring and we could better spend our time watching the plaster dry on our wall.

NOW this is where you get on the defensive, and tell me that there is soooo much more to your sport, the team mates, the teamwork, the thrill of anticipation . just so much excitement. which is fine  I am will to accept that..... if you are willing to accept  the same of Nascar; there is really just as much in Nascar as any other sport. but when it gets down to it, its just boring--too many left turns, too many drunken rednecks, and not enough designated drivers to take them home,in the end the Driver that you were rooting for did not win, and its probably the only sport you can win with out out actually winning any races....yeah pretty lame.
So you just need to face it your sport is Boring, really insanely boring. but it's still great that you like it and all more power to you. because if you like it, or love it that's all that matters...You are just a boring person..thats all.

The New Youtube/ Google+

So if you have not been on YouTube or if you are not on Google+ , then you probably do not know that there has been a supposed BIG update and a small large group of people are really upset about this, and I do not understand why. i would  take the time to watch the Vlogs about how these people feel about  the change, but its not good for my health, so I will try and  examine this from what I do understand..this is going to be a smaller post, because I really do not understand the problem
1. Cannot post replies or comments to videos on YouTube: I found this complaint after I had both left a comment and a reply to someone else's (stupid) comment ( because they were wrong and needed correcting) so I want to  throw down the BS  Card on this. maybe their  problem but not problem, which means its not  a lot of other peoples problems ( these are probably the same people who are calling the PS4 launch a failure because .04% of their systems did not work...yeah says a lot...I do not know what..but its a lot of something..and its not  chocolate pudding)
2. copyright Laws...because the man wants to keep us down: this has always been a problem, but I am guessing that YouTube has really stepped up their game on this...I would't know...I do not steal Music or try and post things on YouTube that is not mine. But honestly why are people complaining about this. if you want to use the video, go through the effort to get permission from the owner of the  video/song/movie/whatever  before posting it.  Also there are tons of of other things you can Do on YouTube....Like Vlogs... use Your Winning Personality for some good, or you could write and create our own song. The Laws are out there not just people's rights, but also their property. and if you get caught and see others getting away with it ( i.e Full movies..love them...but seriously they should not be on there) report it. in some cases ( i.e Songs music etc. the person may have gotten permission. so be careful about it. but do your part to keep YouTube clean....and then there is Bob
  So there is this guy
 and this guy
and there is also this guy..and  a couple others
I see these and  and ask...WHY? what are they really trying to accomplish?  There is a name for this...it is called Spamming. and it only annoys people...so if you are one of these people..
great advice from a great guy!

It's really that simple. YouTube does not  peruse  the comments and take advice from spammers. if you really want to complain, write a formal complaint through the proper means through and email or such. but really don't complain... take the time to study and learn to use the new update.
Seriously people, this also goes for those who constantly complain  about the new Facebook update, or every other Windows update.  Updates are necessary, change is necessary, because we live in a fast and ever changing world, technology is improving. and we should be taking advantage of these new technologies. if we just stayed content with  the old we would still be stuck with windows 98 or something, or a lame less colorful Facebook with its very mediocre set up.
I personally do not even see that much of a change, aside from the fact  that I find YouTube easier to work with.  so once again a say.. take the time to learn the update...you might find out that you actually like the update.

"Neighbors", Ordinary Men" and the Zombie Apocalypse

ZOMBIES!!!!!

You probably have seen all the movies, or at least have that one friend that's ALWAYS talking about about Zombies;(if you don't...then its you) but.....are zombies real? Now that I got you drawn in and (hopefully) interested in this post I am afraid that this post really is not about zombies but it is about a plausible apocalypse.
While I am personally fascinated by the idea of Zombies, and thinking about the "what would I do" scenarios  if there ever was an outbreak, either way knowing outdoor survival is important stuff, but like I said, this isn't about zombies. this is about two books.

  • "Ordinary Men" by Christopher Browning
  • "Neighbors" by Jan T Gross
Both of these books are Brilliant; they both take place back around the time  of World War II. I do not want to ruin these books too much because I want you to read them, they are indeed very great books.
They are both about individual groups of people, an "order Police" task force and  in  the other case  average citizens that both committed acts of genocide, and for the most part they were completely okay with this--in their opinion they were only doing their civil duty. Others were more eager to follow through on the orders to exterminate the Jews. They were fine with murder, with no restraint of who they were killing:men women and even children. In hindsight we can look at this and be shocked, and think how could this be allowed?

In the book "Ordinary Men" they we simply following orders, but they were given the choice. They could participate or not participate. There was but a small handful that chose not to participate. the rest, whether they wanted to or not, went along with the order of massacre. while we see the huge negative side effects of some of the soldiers in the executions being physically repulsed by the graphic results of some of their executions. but  there was still some of those  who were willing all the way through. happy to follow orders.

We take a look at (Neighbors) and can come to the conclusion that they simply went Mad. and that is my theory, that the apocalypse wont come by mutated humans, the raising of the undead nor by some brain virus that turns man into some kind of flesh eating beast. We will simply go mad. We as a society will get to the point that we will get out of touch with the morals and traditions that taught us to be good people and we will become fine with the idea of murdering our neighbor, or anyone for that matter; we will create such huge "political" divide amungst us, one full of ignorance and bitterness that we will be willing to put sanity aside for the sake of our personal "justice." This wont happen .all of the sudden it will creep up on us, and by the time we see it it will be too late to do much about it--not because fighting back would be futile, but because we would be okay with  the idea...i mean the guy had it coming right?
As a history major I am plenty familiar  with the Phrase "those who do not learn from their past are doomed to repeat it" This is true and I believe it, but then again there is only so much we can do even if we remember the past, in some cases we come across the inevitable.  by definition we cannot avoid that! but we can use the past to recognize the forms of these evils, and use Logic to help prevent them becoming  the terrible events of which we are familiar with.
* I have been busy with school and have not had time to work on this, I will just post it as is. Read it, love it, I will try and find more time  to post more stuff...maybe even try to complete something..
